Katrina's role in 'Rajniti' not similar to Sonia Gandhi

He’s the man who’s being credited for de-glamourising Asia’s sexiest woman by casting her as “behenji” exercising her political muscle in ‘Rajniti’. But little did Prakash Jha anticipate that Katrina’s new makeover would spark a plethora of rumours about her role’s similarity to that of Sonia Gandhi.

“There was nothing common between Katrina's character and Mrs Gandhi,” Jha, who recently wrapped up the shooting of ‘Rajniti’ in Bhopal, is quoted by a news agency as saying.


The director says people jumped to their own conclusions after watching Katrina playing the role in a sari.

“Except 'Behenji' Mayawati, so many women politicians, such as Jayalalitha, Mamta Bannerjee wear saris. So how can you say that the character is based on Sonia Gandhi? These are only speculations,” Jha clarifies.

The film has Katrina playing a woman who takes a plunge into politics after the death of her husband. The movie features an ensemble of talented actors like Ajay Devgan , Ranbir Kapoor , Nana Patekar , Arjun Rampal , Manoj Bajpai and Naseeruddin Shah .
