Ranbir Kapoor following his grandpa's footsteps

Ranbir's debut film Saawariya did not just have him play a guy named Ranbir Raj, the whole character bore a startling similarity to the tramp Raj Kapoor played in films like 'Awara' and 'Shri 420'. It's also no coincidence that Ranbir's second film Bachna Ae Haseeno had him playing a Casanova named Raj.

Now, before you think there's too much of Raj in Ranbir's life, sample this. In Raj Kumar Santoshi's film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani , the actor again plays a character that's been modeled on Raj Kapoor.


Santoshi has said that he could easily visualize Ranbir "in the same mould" as his illustrious grandpa, who, though a legend, was however criticized in his heydays for being too inspired by Charlie Chaplin to be original.

In 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', Ranbir too plays a bohemian character who undergoes an extraordinary romance with a beautiful girl, played by the ghazab Katrina Kaif .
