Sonam Kapoor as the beautiful Sahibaan

If things go as planned, Sonam will play Sahibaan in Rakeysh Mehra's next, which will be based on the popular Punjabi romantic tragedy Mirza-Sahibaan. It's written about Sahibaan's beauty that when she stepped out of her home, nine guarding angels died on seeing her beautiful face.

Till date, no Bollywood movie has been made on this romantic saga. The idea of making a film on this theme was sown during the shooting of Delhi 6 . In fact, Sonam herself was instrumental in the process. When Rakeysh, who loved pampering Sonam, one day started calling her Sahibaan on the sets, the lady was confused but later, after getting the history behind the name, she became interested in the subject.


According to sources, Sonam pursued Rakeysh to make it in a film with lavish budget. But before all this happens, the director has to pen the script.

Like Sahibaan, Sonam is also a Punjabi and her grace and beauty assures that she can carry the role of the ethereal Sahibaan with aplomb. But who will be her lover Mirza? The sources add that Rakeysh may repeat Abhishek Bachchan as Mirza in the film after 'Delhi 6'.
