Sonam Kapoor is nicknamed 'Masakali'

The unconventional song ‘Masakali’, composed by A R Rahman , has become a rage now. But one person is quite annoyed nowadays with the song. It’s Sonam Kapoor, the lead actress of the movie.

Post the song’s popularity, Sonam is being given nicknames like ’Masakali’ and ‘Kabutari’, which, though flattering, have left the actress a tad embarrassed. In the song, parallels are drawn between dove and the free-spirited Sonam.


Ironically, Sonam was not the first choice of director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra , who wanted to sign a new face for ‘Delhi 6’. He wanted a simple-looking girl to play Bittu, who stays in a conservative family of old Delhi and wants to break free.

Meanwhile, it’s an ushering of good times for Sonam, who is the face of cosmetic giant L’Oreal and has also become the cover girl for the latest edition of the uber-cool magazine ‘Verve’.

On Bollywood front, she has bagged Rohit and David Dhawan’s comic film Come On Pappu in which she plays romantic lead opposite Akshay Kumar .

The film, budgeted at Rs 90 crore, is being jointly produced by Percept Picture Company and Akshay Kumar. It has been scripted by co-director Rohit Dhawan, who is David's son. ‘Come On Pappu’ will go on floors in August.

As for now, Sonam’s mind is occupied with ‘Delhi 6’ which hits the marquee on February 20.
