When Akshay Kumar got nostalgic

It is common knowledge by now that Akshay hails from the Chandni Chowk area in Old Delhi and his film Chandni Chowk To China is slightly autobiographical. While shooting the movie in Chandni Chowk, Akshay was flooded with memories from his past and was so overwhelmed by emotions that his eyes welled up.

The star visited his ancestral house where he used to live in a huge joint family and he also walked the streets he used to roam as a kid.


The experience made the star so nostalgic that he reportedly decided to use the address of his old home in a song in the film.

The song, sung by Akshay himself, has lyrics that go: “1180, Chatta Madan Gopal, Parathewali Galli, Lal Quilla, Chandni Chowk, Delhi-6”.

It’s clear that even though Akshay has become a big star he still hasn’t lost touch with his roots.

‘Chandni Chowk To China’, directed by Nikhil Advani , has Akshay playing a cook in Chandni Chowk who goes to China and learns martial arts to help rid a Chinese village of a dreaded smuggler. The movie has Deepika Padukone in double role.

‘CC2C’ is set for release on January 16.
