Worried about safety, Bipasha Basu leaves Kashmir

A film about the people in Kashmir valley, ‘Lamha’ was first declined by Karisma Kapoor because she did not want to shoot the movie in the troubled valley. Bipasha showed courage in taking on the role but she too has now cowered out after just a few days of shooting in Kashmir.

Reason? The actress is seriously concerned about her security and safety in Kashmir.


Bipasha says the shooting of the film was getting repeatedly stalled because of the huge crowds that would gather and demand the shooting to be stopped. People there were suspicious about what image of Kashmir would be shown in the film.

The crowd was getting so frenzied that Bipasha had to be moved out of the Oberoi hotel (where the entire unit was staying) and shifted to an undisclosed location. The situation was very sensitive and Bipasha says she felt insecure.

Things came to such a point that one day when the crowd was getting out of control, Bipasha’s security team vanished. Though the situation improved a bit on Friday, Bipasha decided to leave the shooting unit on Saturday and flew out of Srinagar in a huff even as her co-star Sanjay Dutt arrived in the valley to join the shooting team.

The film’s shooting has been stalled for now and the crew would soon be shifting to Manali to continue the shoot. Producer Bunty Walia hopes Bipasha won’t have any apprehension over shooting in Manali.

Walia is also optimistic that Bipasha would complete the unfinished scenes in Kashmir during another schedule that’s being planned for January next year.
