Journalist-turned actor Nedumudi Venu needs no introduction to Malayali audience. His performance as Chellapan Ashari in Takara and as Xavier in Vidaparayum Munpe in his early days as an actor is matchless till day.

Since then he has given many memorable performances. Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam, Vaishali, His Highness Abdulla are a few to name.

Amazing is his range as an actor. Be it a comic role or a villainous one, he is at ease. Malayalam's leading stars Mammootty and Mohan Lal make no secret of their learning the finer nuances of acting from Venu. Even the inimitable Kamal Hasan is said to have been influenced by Venu's style of acting. Though Venu missed national best award for acting by a whisker for a couple of times, he has many state awards in his kitty.

Now Venu is to make his presence at national level. Sai Paranjype, noted Hindi filmmaker has signed Venu for the lead role in Bhagobhooth, which is based on folklore. Sai Paranjype describes him as a "million dollar actor." Considering that Venu is no stranger to folklore, the role shouldn't pose major problems to him. But delivering dialogues in an alien language is definitely a challenge to this proven actor.
