The story goes like this. Boney Kapoor wanted to remake the Telugu hit Anthapuram in Hindi. In Anthapuram national award winning actress Sharada had essayed the role of a mother-in-law. Boney thought no less talented actress than Jayaprada could do justice to that role in the remake. So he requested his friend Krishna Vamsi to approach the aging actress to play this role.
Vamsi wasn’t surprised when Jayaprada refused to do the role of a mother-in-law. But Vamsi was shocked when she told him she could fit in Karisma’s role.
Now Tollywood has it that Jayaprada was actually making a point to Kapoor family. Jayaprada wanted to know why Boney looks outside his family when Sri, who’s as fit as Jayaprada for the role, is there.
