Kavya queening it over in Malayalam moviedom

There is no mistaking it. Comely Kavya Madhavan is the busiest actress in the Malayalam movie world these days. Although a dozen new heroines have invaded ‘Malluwood’, it is Kavya who is reigning supreme.

The doe-eyed beauty, who hails from Nileshwaram in North Malabar, has over a dozen projects in hand, several of them under prestigious banners.

The proximate cause of her immense popularity has of course been the fact that she has struck a purple patch with half a dozen hits, including “Meesha Madhavan”, “Gauri Shankaram” and “Aparichitan”. The success has boosted brand Kavya. No wonder, producers are making a beeline to sign up the talented girl.

The grapevine has it that the diminutive actress, who made her debut against super star Mammootty in “Azhakiya Ravanan”, has three films lined up for immediate release. Two are in the process of being completed, and half a dozen more are about to go on the floor.

Kavya is pinning great hopes on “Katha” produced under the banner of Revathi Kala Mandir by Suresh and actress Maneka. In the film which has upcoming Prithviraj as the hero, Kavya is playing Meera, a modern girl out to make it big in life. Incidentally, this is the first film in which Kavya is co-starring Prithviraj.

Then there is “Two-wheeler”, being directed by promising young director Sanal. The film with Jayasurya as the hero again has Kavy a playing a liberal, go-lucky girl.

Among the other films featuring Ms Madhavan are Annorikkal, Anandhabhadram, Kilukkam, Kilukilukkam and Intuppuppakoru Anayundayirunnu.
