You cannot keep a good man down for long, so goes the saying. This applies to good cinema, too. Ace director K. Viswanath proves this maxim, again, with Swaraabhishekam. It is a vintage film backed up by good story, crisp dialogues, excellent camera and mellifluous music. 
The film tells the story of two brother-musicians Srinivasachari (K Viswanath) and Ranga ( Srikanth ). The two belong to a joint family steeped in tradition. Srinivasachari is married to Rukmini (Urvashi). But the couple has no children. Ranga, on the other hand, is a widower with two kids. The brothers make it big in due course in the Telugu film world through sheer dint of hard work. In the process the music director duo become rich as well. Ranga runs into Surekha (Laya), an anchor by profession. The mutual liking results in marriage. All is hunky dory. Then the storm clouds start building up. That great human foible, jealousy, comes into play, vitiating the agreeable ambience in the joint family and causing a rift in the family. The story takes another twist then. Success eludes the brothers in their new individual 'avatars'. Unity was the secret of their success. This realization dawns the hard way. Needless to say, music is the film's forte. Vidyasagar has added one more feather to his musical cap. The most glittering gem in the crown jewel is the song Venu Gana Sammohanam. In the final analysis, Swaraabhishekam, as the name denotes, affords the music lovers a liberal drench in melodious music. |
