He has completed 25 years of reel life. In the process, the man has essayed an amazing array of roles. Still, the innovator in him won't be denied. The man in focus goes by the name Mohanlal .
The latest exercise in experimentation of the Malayalam mega star is a seven-minute film!
The film, to be titled "Reflections", will be directed by Bijoy Nambiar, an ardent Mohanlal fan and a member of the Bangalore Theatre club.
When Nambiar decided to make the shortie, the first name that sprang to his mind was that of Mohanlal, whose enduring passion for experimentation is almost legendary.
Interestingly, his quest for innovation saw Mohanlal doing a cameo as an auto-driver in Kannada film, "Love".
In Ramgopal Varma's Company , he played a south Indian police commissioner, with an endearingly comical touch.
Earlier, he had tried his hand in theatre, too, by playing Karna, the mythical character of Mahabharata in a drama entitled "Karnabharam". It was directed by that ace experimenter-playwright, Kavalam.
Incidentally, the going has been good for the veteran actor in 2004. Three of his movies, "Balettan", "Natturajavu" and Mambazhakkalam" did well at the box office. The year 2004 has proved, again, that Malayalam cinema still means the two Mega stars, Mohanlal and Mammootty!
