Meena set to make a splash in Kannada films

They say she is all but out of the Tamil film scene. Mollywood has also turned indifferent to her, the Cassandras would have us believe.

But the doe-eyed beauty with an hourglass figure is busy in the neighbourhood: Kannada cinema.

The heroine in focus is none other than Meena , who made several hit films in the company of Malayalam megastar Mohanlal . For some inexplicable reasons, Meena has stopped getting offers from Malayalam cinema.

But the feisty actress is said to be least bothered over the developments. She is busy anchoring a gameshow on Jaya TV , which has become immensely popular.

Meanwhile, she got an offer to act in a Kannada film, titled ‘My Autograph’. It is the Kannada version of the Cheran-directed Tamil original ‘Autograph’, which won three national awards.

Meena will essay the role Sneha did in the Tamil version. Keralite, Sreedevika, will enact the role Gopika did in the Tamil original. In a way, it will be the Kannada debut of Sreedevika, who attracted attention with her Tamil film, ‘Anbe Vaa’.

So, all those who said Meena has made her exit from the film world, have ended up with egg on their faces. The heroine has also scotched rumours of her impending marriage. Cinema is my first love, says the Tamil maiden.
