Sreekumaran When she burst on the Malayalam film scene a few years ago, few expected her to stay for long. But Telugu heroine Laya has proved the prophets of doom wrong. Her track record in Mollywood shows that Laya is very much here to stay. Not only that. She has managed to snap up another prestigious project of late. 
Lissome Laya has been signed up as the female lead in Action King Suresh Gopi’s forthcoming film the Anil Menon-directed “Raashtram”. This is the first time Laya and Suresh have been teamed up. Interestingly, with Raashtram safely under her belt, Laya can be said to have achieved a record of sorts: she has managed to act with all the reigning superstars of Malayalam cinema. Her maiden Malayalam movie was in the august company of megastar Mammootty . The film: Shafi-directed “Thommanum Makkalum”, which went on to become a bumper hit. She also had a chance to be paired with Jayaram in “Alice In Wonderland”. Then followed another plum role – this time with the other Malayalam megastar, Mohanlal , ‘Udayon’. The ‘superstar circle’ is now complete with Laya about to rub shoulders with Suresh Gopi , who regained his superstardom with Bharatchandran IPS. So, like Padmapriya, another Andhraiite who has made Mollywood her second home, Laya is also feeling very much at home in Mollywood!
