Vasundhara Das made an impressive debut in Mollywood a few years ago in the august company of megastar Mohanlal .
The film was ‘Ravanaprabhu’. It went on to become one of the all-time hits of Malayalam cinema.
Then, she rubbed shoulders with none other than the current monarch of Malayalam cinema Mammootty in ‘Vajram’.
In the film Ms Das played an actress - again an impressive performance which earned her critical acclaim.
Then came the break. Vasundhara hopped over to greener pastures like Kollywood and Tollywood besides doing a few roles in Hindi films as well.
Now, she is back in Malayalam films. This time around, she is playing the female interest of Malayalam actor Sreenivasan.
The film, titled ‘Ottakannan’ is being directed by Sashi Shankar. Incidentally, this is Sashi's second film in Malayalam, the first being ‘Sarkar Dada’ featuring Jayaram.
Das has however ruled out doing any films in Tamil for the time being. But she would not mind singing Tamil songs, according to the grapevine. A bitter experience in the past is believed to have made her wary of acting in Tamil films!
Well, Kollywood's loss is Malayalam cinema's gain!
