Sreekumaran Two flops in rapid succession have made Malayalam megastar Mammootty sit up and take notice. The first of his recent movies to record an indifferent performance at the box office was ‘Prajapathy’. The second film to sink was ‘Bhargavacharitham Moonnam Khandam’ which was Mammootty's Onam release. 
The upshot of it all is this: for the time being, light and comedy-oriented films will take a backseat and the Megastar will hereafter concentrate on serious films. An immediate casualty of the setback has been director Shafi's film. The grapevine has it that the megastar has requested the director that the shooting of his film, ‘Mayavi’, be deferred at least until December. The grapevine has it that Mammootty has decided to give top priority to Blessy's new film. Incidentally, it was Blessy's ‘Kazcha’ that saw Mammootty scale new peaks of popularity and histrionic skill. Obviously, Mammootty wants to shake off the perception that he has become indifferent to serious cinema. So, directors like Blessey and Major Ravi will get the nod in the short term. Wisdom lies in reading the signals on time and apply the correctives. Mammootty has got his act together and swung into action to limit the damage caused by the recent flops. Obviously, the megastar has imbibed the maxim that a stitch in time saves nine!
