Malayalam megastar Mohanlal is a much sought after man not only in Mollywood but also in neighbouring Tamil cinema.
How? You might ask. The answer is: Tamil producers and directors are keen on remaking his hit films in Malayalam.
Two of his recent movies, which were remade in Tamil, are ‘Kireedam’ and ‘Sphadikam’. The Tamil versions, titled ‘Kireedam’ and ‘Veerappu’, respectively, were smashing hits.
Even the mighty Rajnikant has reaped rich rewards by remaking Mohanlal films. For instance, Rajni's superhit flick Muthu is a remake of Mohanlal's ‘Tenmaavin Kombathu’. Likewise, Chandramukhi is based on the Mohanlal film, ‘Manichitrathazhu’.
The remake success seems to have whetted the appetite of Tamil producers. For, three more Mohanlal flicks are set to be remade in Tamil. The movies are: Udayananu Tharam , ‘Hello’ and Ali Bhai .
With such a fabulous record, Mohanlal can well and truly be called "Remake Raja"!
