The two mega stars of Malayalam cinema, Mammootty and Mohanlal present a contrasting picture.
While Mohanlal’s reel life is passing through a rough patch, Mammootty’s career graph is on the upward trend.
Mohanlal is desperately looking for a hit after the failure of his latest four films. So much so that Mohanlal has now become extremely choosy.
Reports have it that he has decided to fall back upon his dependable ally, director Sathyan Anthikkad for reeling off another hit. Incidentally, ‘Rasathanthram’, which was directed by Sathyan and featured Mohanlal in the lead role was a big hit.
A hit-starved Mohanlal is hoping that Sathyan will be able to repeat the success of ‘Rasathanthram’.
As for Mammootty, he rounded off 2007 with a big hit, ‘Kathaparayumbol’. It was such a super hit that even Tamil superstar Rajnikant wanted to have it in Tamil.
Then, Mammootty started the New Year with a bang. The Renjit-directed film, ‘Roudram’ is running to packed houses.
His forthcoming movies like Annan Thambi and Pazhassi Raja are expected to be hits as well.
