In reel life, Malayalam hero Suresh Gopi has mesmerized his fans by playing the super cop.
Little did he realize that the police uniform he dons frequently in films will land him in trouble in real life.
Trouble came in the form of a PIL, which took exception to Suresh appearing at a public function in police uniform.
The super star defends himself by saying that he meant no disrespect to police. Here is how it happened.
Gopi was shooting for the film ‘Twenty Twenty’, in which he is playing a police officer at Tripunithara in Kerala. He had to attend a public function where the topic was "Policemen as role models in society". As Suresh was already late by an hour, he did not go for a change of clothes and went to the function in the police uniform.
Some real life police officers were also present at the function, but a lawyer did not like it all and filed a PIL against Gopi.
Lawyers, however, say Gopi has nothing to worry if he apologises in the court. He was also not wearing a cap at the function. So he would be let off with a mild warning at the most.
On screen he would have tackled it in typical fashion. But it is a different ballgame in real life. There he will have to cope with the 'cop problem' in a more restrained manner. No fiery dialogues or punch lines will do!
