SCOOP!! & NEWS Simran set to ‘scorch’ the silverscreen, again!29th Mar 2005 20.30 IST By P. Sreekumaran The reigning queen of yesteryears, Simran , is all set to stage an impressive comeback in Kollywood. The latest film featuring Sims, Kitcha Vayadhu 16 is slated for the Tamil new year release. Incidentally, this is Simran's first film, which is scheduled to see the light of the day since her marriage. It has another heroine, Meera. And Kollywood is abuzz with the talk that Simran has given it all to make it a memorable comeback – oodles of oomph, included! The buzz is that the actress is keen to ensure that Kitcha Vayadhu 16 comes out around the same time as Rajni's magnum opus Chandramukhi and Kamal Haasan's much-hyped ‘Mumbai Express’. As a matter of fact, shooting for Kitcha had started much before Chandramukhi got on the floor, but owing to some reasons, Simran could not complete her work. Meanwhile, she had been signed up for Chandramukhi. But Simran opted out of it – so says the grapevine – because she was pregnant. That was a blessing in disguise for the producer of Kitcha, who was upset when Simran got married and left for London, leaving the film hanging in the air, as it were. But Simran returned from London recently. And the first thing she did was to complete the shooting schedule for Kitcha Vayadhu 16. It was as if she had a point to prove: getting dropped from a Rajni-movie is not the end of the world. She has her own way of bouncing back on to the centrestage. Well, she has managed to do just that. It remains to be seen whether Kitcha has what it takes to clash with the likes of Chandramukhi and ‘Mumbai Express’. Whatever the outcome, you must give it to Simran. For, the comely heroine is nothing if not spirited. One only hopes it will be a comeback worth remembering for both the actress as well as for Tamil filmdom. The answer is in the womb of time. For all you know, Kitcha could be the best antidote for the searing summer.
