Kollywood is cock-a-hoop. Why not? Tamil cinema has bagged three awards at the just-announced 52nd National Film Awards.
Tamil film "Autograph" (starring Sneha seen in the picture) has won three awards: Best popular film 'providing wholesome entertainment' (it shares this award with Hindi film Veer Zaara ), Best female playback singer for K S Chitra and best lyricist for Paa Vijay.
Understandably, ‘Autograph’ director Cheran is beside himself with joy. He 'had expected' the Best Director award too for his film. But that was not to be. Still, the director says he is happy.
Playback singer KS Chitra is also ecstatic. She won the award for the Autograph song "Ovvoru Pookkalume" featured on heroine Sneha in the film. Incidentally, this is the sixth time Chitra has won the best female playback singer award at the national level. Tremendous achievement indeed!
For lyricist Paa Vijay too, it is a dream come true. He is in fact only the second Tamil lyricist to win the award, the first recipient being Vairamuthu. The soft-spoken lyricist had an intuition, while penning the song, that it would fetch him an award! So it did.
No wonder, Tamil film world is in a celebratory mood!
