That is the new mantra animating the southern movie scene in general and Kollywood in particular. The latest to hop on to the 'remake bandwagon' is none other than the redoubtable Rajnikant himself! 
Rajni, feeling low after the bombing of "Baba" took the remake route with wonderful results. His Chandramukhi , remake of Kannada film ‘Aapthamitra’, is all set to become one of the all-time top grossers. The film, nearing the 100-day mark, is running to packed houses all over Tamil Nadu. And Rajni is rapturous! If Rajni comes, can ‘Ilayathalapathi’ Vijay be far behind ? The boyish-looking hero did ‘Killi’, which is the Tamil remake of Telugu topper, ‘Okkadu’. The film catapulted him to the very top. And the No 2. in Kollywood now has not looked back since! Anniyan Vikram also came good, thanks to the remake recipe. Vikram acted in the Tamil version of the Kalabhavan Mani-starring Malayalam blockbuster ‘Vasanthiyum, Lakshmium, Pinne Nanum’. The Tamil version titled Kashi put him firmly on the path to glory. So impressed is Vikram with the results of the remake route that he is said to be considering doing more remakes of popular Malayalam films. The hero, who won the national award for best actor for his searing portrayal in ‘Pithamagan’, is reportedly toying with the idea of doing the Tamil remakes of Malayalam hits like ‘Meesha Madhavan’ and ‘Karumadikkuttan’. Interestingly, Vikram is busy working in yet another Tamil remake of the popular Mammootty -starrer, ‘Thommanum Makkalum’ right now. No wonder, Tamil actors are blowing the 'remake trumpet' these days!
