The agonising suspense seems to be over at long last (or is it?). The word is out that saucy Shriya will be the heroine of superstar Rajnikant in his forthcoming film, ‘Sivaji’.
Earlier reports had it that Rajnikant had zeroed in on Bollywood beauty Ayesha Takia to play his love angle in ‘Sivaji’.
But, in the final count, neither Aishwarya Rai – Rajni was keen having her as his heroine, to begin with – nor Ayesha made it, albeit for different reasons, it is learnt.
While Ash had too tight a schedule to accept Rajni’s offer, Ayesha opted out for reasons still unclear. Some reports say she was not keen on doing the role. Hence Rajni’s choice of Shriya.
Sweet-looking Shriya made her debut in Telugu cinema. But having lost the race to the likes of Trisha , Asin and Nayanthara in Tollywood, Shriya migrated to Kollywood to try her luck there. And lo! She has literally grabbed the mother of all roles that could have come her way!
The buzz is that Rajnikant gave his nod as he was highly impressed by Shriya’s performance in her latest film ‘Mazhai’ in which Jayam Ravi was her hero.
Among the others who ‘ran the race’ – and lost -- were Asin, Nayanthara and Tollywood topper Trisha.
But Shriya it is who has secured the most prestigious role in Kollywood. It could well be her big ticket to stardom!
