HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | DOWN SOUTH : TAMIL Wedding bells ring for lovely Laila!03rd Jan 2006 16.10 IST By P. Sreekumaran This is the ‘taja khabar’ from Tamil film world: lovely Tamil actress Laila is getting married on January 6. In a way, it is a new life for the lissome heroine in the New Year.
The groom is an Iranian businessman, Mehdi, with whom Laila has been going steady for over 7 years. Their engagement had taken place nearly three years ago, according to the heroine herself. Well, it turned out to be a closely-guarded secret! Talented Laila had made a debut in the Vijaya Kant-starrer Kallazhagar. The Mumbai-based Laila then worked with Ajit in Dina and Parthen Rasithen with Prashanth . Then came ‘Dil’ and ‘Pithamagan’ with Vikram . The latter film fetched Vikram the national award for the best actor. In between, Laila had taken a break and gone back to Mumbai. But she returned, with a bang, to Kollywood with Ullam Ketkume , in which she did a delightful cameo. The first indication that she was planning to tie the nuptial knot came when she refused to do two films against Prashanth. One of her last films will be Paramasivan in which her hero is Ajit. It remains to be seen whether she will continue to act, post marriage. All the same, we wish you a happy married life, Laila oh Laila!
