Even as Sivaji , is breaking all box office records, an assistant director has created a sensation by filing a case of plagiarism against the producers of the Rajnikant -starrer.
The man in focus, Sudalai Kannan, has charged that the story of ‘Sivaji’ had been written by him and that the AVM Productions, had made the film based on his story.
Accordingly, a metropolitan court on Wednesday issued notices to AVM Productions and the manager of the film’s director Shankar.
The next hearing in the case has been fixed for July 12, according to the Kollywood reports.
Incidentally, Rajni’s earlier movie, Chandramukhi had also attracted charges of plagiarism. The contention of the petitioner in that case was that Chandramukhi’s story was based on the original Malayalam movie, ‘Manichitrathazhu’ starring Mohanlal , Shobana and Suresh Gopi .
Meanwhile, ‘Sivaji’ continues to dominate the box office by doing 100 per cent business even in the second week, according to trade circles.
