Unlike its Malayalam counterpart, Tamil cinema will not witness a superstar clash during Diwali this year.
This is mainly because both Rajnikant and Kamal Haasan do not have any of their films lined up for a Diwali release.
Earlier there was talk that Kamal's Dasavatharam may hit the theatres during Diwali, but latest reports emanating from Kollywood say the release has been put off till Pongal next year!
That leaves the field clear for the youngsters in Tamil cinema. The four heroes in the Diwali race are Vijay (‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan’), Ajith (‘Billa’), Vikram (‘Bheema’) and Surya (‘Vel’).
There are others who are eyeing a Diwali release. Among this lot are Madhavan (‘Vazhthukkal’), Bharat (‘Palani’), Danush (‘Pollathavan’) and Simbu (‘Kaalai’).
In other words, Diwali this year will see the release of at least eight to nine Tamil films, according to the grapevine.
