Tamanna's movie set for Pongal release

Tamanna started her career with a Hindi film named ‘Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ and later on tried her luck in South Indian cinema. Her debut Tamil movie was ‘Kedi’, which did well at the box office.

In ‘Padikathavan’ Tamanna is paired opposite Dhanush for the first time, who is not only a budding star but also the son-in-law of Rajnikant . Padikathavan’s story is about trials and triumphs of a young uneducated boy who comes from a well-educated family.


Dhanush’s last hit was ‘Polladhavan’, which sounds similar to ‘Padhikathavan’. The young star had tough time convincing the legal heirs of N.Veerasami of Easwri Productions, the producer of Rajnikant's ‘Padikathavan’ (1985) to part with the title for his all-new ‘Padikathavan’ (2008), to be directed by Suraj for producers Vijaya Productions.

Tamanna gets to play a software professional from a well-to-do family, who later ends up falling in love with the uneducated hero of the film. The actress, who is much excited to be in the project, says: “I’m thrilled to be in a Dhanush film. My role has shades of comedy which I always love to do.”

For a 19 year old, whose career is on an upward swing with movies like ‘Ayan’ in her kitty, ‘Padikathavan’ can prove to be a milestone for this young girl’s career, who is equally active both in Tamil and Telugu cinema. According to sources, Tamanna has even signed Tamil version of Jab We Met opposite Bharath .

The trailers of ‘Padikathavan’ are sizzling and the makers are hopeful that the movie, too, turns out to be a superhit like the previous one.
