Nayantara riding high on success

Nayan’s popularity can be gauged from the fact that recently around 10,000 people came to see her during the shoot of ‘Bodyguard’, directed by Siddique.

With top heroines of South trying their luck in Bollywood, heroines like Nayan (as she is popularly known) are getting more chance. After playing second fiddle to Asin in Ghajini (Tamil) and proving her prowess in Billa , Nayan is on a roll.


In ‘Bodyguard’ she is playing a spoiled brat, daughter of a tycoon, played by Thyagarajan, who hires a former commando as her bodyguard. While the film was being shot at CMS College, Kottayam, more than 10,000 fans gathered to have a glimpse of their favourite heroine.

Star worship is a common phenomenon down south but Nayan’s popularity there was never as high as it is now. Nayan’s fan base in Telugu film industry has widened after the release of ‘Dubai Seenu’ and ‘Salute’. Slowly and steadily, this number one actress of Tamil Nadu is gaining a strong hold in the Telugu film industry and many producers and heroes are keen on working with her.

On New Year’s eve Nayan would shoot for director W Vinayak opposite NTR. Nayan plays the lead while Neha Sharma of ‘Chirutha’ fame is second heroine. By January end, she will start shooting for Udayanidhi Stalin’s film. The movie is to be directed by KS Ravikumar and will have Surya in the lead. And the actress is waiting for the release of her big movie ‘Villu’, which might hit the theatres by mid January.
