Quite a few good-looking men have switched from the ramps to the celluloid in the past. Their success rate with films is questionable though.
The episode started with a hunk of a man called Kabir Bedi, and the trend continues.
We must remember that Kabir Bedi was known for everything else but films. Amongst all the films that he starred in, only Kachche Dhaage and Khoon Bhari Maang linger in our memories.
More recently, Deepak Malhotra was tried by sugar daddy Yash Chopra for his film Lamhe and the experiment boomeranged. Deepak could not go beyond a nasal 'Pallon', (the nickname of his beloved Sridevi in the film). His presence was forgotten by the time the film resumed its post-interval show.
The next in line was Milind Soman, but he too fizzled out. Dino Morea joined the bandwagon and got paired opposite Rinke Khanna in Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi. The film could not boost the career prospects of either Dino or Rinke. The film is best remembered for its song 'Musmusu haasi'.
Not ready to take a lesson or two from the fate models faced in films, Bikram Saluja lapped up Khalid Mohamed'd Fiza, and is the romantic interest of none other than Karishma Kapoor. Even before his first film has released, Bikram has been signed by Partho Ghosh for his film Panchchi.
Looking at the assignments Bikram has in his hands, we hope he breaks the jinx of models faring unsuccessful in films.
