Following the example of other contemporary fashion designers Kolkata-born Aki Narula too has hopped aboard the tinsel town bandwagon.

Having just got through designing the outfit for the entire star cast of Farhaan Akhtar's directorial debut "Dil Chahta Hai", Aki remembers how tentative he was early on about designing for Bollywood stars.

"I was forewarned by people that Bollywood was very disorganized", remembers the young designer whose outfit-ensemble was recently showcased in the capital at Ogaan, Santushti. But contrary to his prognostications about Bollywood, Aki is pleasantly surprised to find that "film folks are professional about everything".

Farhaan Akhtar gave him beforehand a brief summary of the characters played by the film's cast comprising of Akshay Khanna, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni and Dimple Kapadia. Bearing this in mind Aki took special care to design the clothes that would conform to the character's personality.

For instance, while simple and bland clothes suited Akshay's character (that of a painter), Aamir's character (a college lad) demanded the zaniest of the apparels.

Dubbing his first experience with Bollywood as the "great one" Aki hopes that he would get to work for more projects in the future.
