This hazel-eyed Czech model always dreamed of touching distant shores and exploring new worlds. After earning reputation as a supermodel in Europe and Japan, Yana came to India on a spiritually rejuvenating trip and has stayed on since then.
A graduate in park architecture and gardening, Yana Gupta is a cosmopolitan in the true sense of the word. Having spent her childhood in Brno, the second largest city in Czech Republic, Yana took off at a young age for Milan where she modeled for some of the big names in haute couture.
Yana soon became a known face on the ramp in Vienna, Munich, Hamburg and Prague for clients like Calvin Klein and Victoria's Secret.
The ‘bustle and din’ of European fashion world bored her and she packed her bags for Asia, the continent that interested her very much from childhood.
Her next destination was Japan where she spent almost 2 years, modeling for cosmetics (Shuemura, Shisheido, Nivea, Rexona) and for Toyota, Honda and Sony, to name a few.
Prodded by her friends to make a spiritual trip to India, Yana left Japan and landed in Goa. Her pursuit of spiritual bliss led her to Haridwar where she met her husband Satya Gupta.
According to Yana, she never intended to get into any serious relationship. However, the two got married last October and now live happily in Pune. That's how Yana Synkova became Yana Gupta.
Meanwhile, Yana continues her modeling assignments, doing commercials for Limca and MTV and Lakme recently. She created a stir a couple of months back when she appeared on the cover of a high-profile lifestyle magazine ‘Man's World’.
Yana says she is fascinated with the ‘spiritual and supernatural’ touch to India.
She spends her free time “meditating” and has a “holistic view to health”.
“In India I feel much less stressed out. There is no need to take a holiday as a life in India itself seems like one,” says the svelte model.
