SCOOP!! & NEWS LIFW concludes with 'peppermint'27th Apr 2005 22.10 IST By Agencies The Lakme India Fashion Week 2005 came to a close on Tuesday, with the grand finale show focusing on 'freshness and coolness', based on the sponsor Lakme's "peppermint" theme. "This year we have chosen peppermint as the theme and the show reflected coolness and freshness," said Lakme Lever Vice President Anil Chopra. 
Addressing the media on the closing day of the event, Fashion Design Council Of India Director Rathi Vinay Jha said that two fashion weeks will be held from next year - one in Mumbai and the other in Delhi. "With the old agreements and commitments coming to an end, we are in the process for finding new partners, which is likely to be finalised soon," she said. The grand finale was witnessed not only by celebrities from glamour world but also from the world of Sports. Indian tennis legend Vijay Amritraj along with Mahesh Bhupathi made their presence felt. The final show of the evening by designers Varun Bahl and Monisha Jaising saw brand ambassadors of Lakme - Katrina Kaif, Indrani Dasgupta, Yana Gupta and Shivani Kapoor - walking the ramp. The weeklong fashion extravaganza saw as many as 55 designers including Ritu Kumar , Tarun Tahiliani , Rina Dhaka and Wendell Rodricks, showcasing their collections. While the old timers of Indian fashion industry made their presence felt, rookie designers like Shantanu Goenka and Lakme Fashion House contest winner Shazad Kalim announced their arrival. Over the week, both domestic and international buyers have kept a close watch on the collections showcased. |
