Fashion designer Ritu Kumar recently launched her latest collection at a fashion show in Mumbai.
The star-studded event saw the unveiling of Ritu Kumar’s two-part collection – the first, Kumar’s label line, and the second, traditional wedding line.
Actresses Neha Dhupia , Diana Hayden walked the ramp along with other models for the launch of the collection that consisted of hand-embellished tiered skirts, tulle dupattas, mukaish sarees and stunning new silhouette of a jersey choli-kurta.
But the most stunning of the ramp-walk was by the veteran Shabana Azmi whose enigmatic presence and resplendent smile was met with applause from the crowd.
Speaking about her collection, Ritu Kumar told a news agency: “The Ritu Kumar label line is a very young collection, based on the crafts of India but is sourced mainly from Kachan Punjab region. It’s aliened in handloom and wool and also the techniques in handloom and crafts we have in our country.”
After the fashion show there was an auction event aimed at raising funds for Women’s Cancer Initiative-Tata Memorial Hospital.
Ritu Kumar said the main purpose of the auction was to “create awareness about cancer, breast cancer in particular.”
Cine stars Jackie Shroff , Zeenat Aman and Mandira Bedi were among those who conducted the auction.
