Nikki Rana , a model, a sports science student and a Bollywood aspirant, has won the Miss India UK 2005 title.
Last year’s Miss India-UK Amrita Hunjan crowned Nikki after the twenty-year-old beauty beat off stiff competition from 23 contestants from across Britain.
The title win means that Nikki will represent Britain in the Miss India Worldwide Finals in Mumbai in January 2006. Her prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Mumbai in January.
Nikki is a student at De Montfort University, Leicester, and has Princess Diana as her role model.
Besides Nikki, the other four finalists were Jayna Tida, Karishma Sethi, Snehali Naik and Gayatri Pattar. Among the finalists, Nikki was reportedly the only contestant who scored more than 30 out of 40 points with all the judges.
After winning the crown, an exuberant Nikki told mediapersons: “I want to use my title to my advantage and I am hoping that it will help me raise money for charity. I want to raise money to help people involved in natural disasters around the world. For me this will raise my profile and increase my chance of breaking into Bollywood.”
