Designing Katrina Kaif’s look in 'Namastey London'

Fashion designer Rocky S was informed on the eleventh hour that he has to design Katrina Kaif’s look in Vipul Shah’s movie Namastey London .

Since Katrina Kaif plays a modern girl, born and brought up in London in ‘Namastey London’, the film’s maker Vipul Amrutlal Shah first roped in an English designer to style her look and clothes in the film. But the English designer picked up dresses that were too realistic and non-glamourous.

‘Namastey London’, however, is essentially a Bollywood movie and the heroine needs to look gorgeous and glamourous in it. So Shah sent a message to Rocky S , asking him to fly to London to design Katrina’s look.

Rocky learnt about Katrina’s character in the film and decided to give her a grungy look. He gave her dresses with lemon and pink shades, along with suede waistcoats, boots, belts and studded fashion accessory to give her slightly punk look. Rocky also got a few skirts for Katrina because he thinks she has great legs.

For Katrina’s Punjabi look in the film, Rocky gave her a number of colourful salwar kameez in the shades of pink, red, green and yellow. He also got chikan kurtas and patialas for her.

For Katrina’s bridal wear in the movie, Rocky chose an embroidered pink colored dress.

Rocky says he has known Katrina for a long time and knows her fashion tastes well. The best part is that Katrina actively participated in the designing and selection of her outfits in the film.

‘Namastey London’ is an unusual love story between a Punjabi guy and a British girl. Akshay Kumar plays the Punjabi. The film hits the theatres on Friday.
