Jhoom Barabar Jhoom – High on style!

Meticulous attention has gone into the styling of the actors in this Friday’s release Jhoom Barabar Jhoom .

Fashion designer Aki Narula had a daunting task designing the look of the main characters in ‘JBJ’. He had done a brilliant job in Shaad Ali’s previous film Bunty Aur Babli For JBJ, Ali again relied on Narula and told him that the characters needed to have very colourful clothes in the film.

‘JBJ’ stars Abhishek Bachchan Bobby Deol , Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta . The film has Amitabh Bachchan playing a sutradhar. The movie is set in London and Paris.

Aki Narula, whose creations have often pleasantly surprised and shocked actors in Bollywood, was given a free hand by Shaad Ali . And living up to the expectations again, Narula designed many outfits that had explosion of colors in them.

Narula dared to design a special coat made from several pieces of clothes (shawls and durries) sown together for Amitabh Bachchan for the song Jhoom in the film. Along with this colourful coat, he gave Big B faded jeans, long boots and a black hat (with feathers) to wear.

The song shows Big B as a rockstar playing a double-arm guitar. The outfit goes very well with the character.

Aki also let his imagination run wild while designing outfits for Abhishek, Bobby, Preity and Lara. Both the ladies were given a variety of resplendent halter-neck dresses which they wear in the film at different places.

Abhishek and Bobby were given a variety of coats, from sober to zany. For one sequence, Aki chose a black overcoat (gangster style) and a black hat for Bobby. The same sequence has Preity dressed as a Victorian lady.

For Abhishek, Aki chose very funky outfits like collar-less coats, colorful sherwanis and faded denims.

Aki Narula says doing the film’s costume was a “very satisfying experience” because the final look of the characters is catching a lot of attention among movie buffs and is setting new fashion trends.
