HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | FASHION Indian designers headed for London Fashion Week03rd Sept 2007 18.00 IST By Aparajita Ghosh A host of Indian designers will have stalls at the upcoming London Fashion Week. Even though the buzz surrounding the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) and Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) is on the rise, a number of Indian fashion designers have their eyes set on the international market as well.
Designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee , Ashish Soni and Anamika Khanna will have stalls at the London Fashion Week. The stalls usually attract British boutiques that look for ethnic designs. After the London stopover, both Sabyasachi and Ashish will showcase their collections at elaborate ramp shows in New York. In fact, Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s latest collection has raised a lot of curiosity. It is said to be inspired by renowned author Paulo Coelho’s book ‘The Witch of Portobello’. The outfits in Mukhrejee’s collection are fusion wear with a blend of ethnic and modern. On the other hand, Anamika Khanna’s collection will be more on the sexy and contemporary side. Anamika will also show her collection at a ramp show in Paris. Also displaying their collections in London will be newcomers like Raj and Neetu Shroff from Bangalore and Samant Chauhan and Abhijit Khanna from Delhi. London Fashion Week will be held from 15 to 20 September. WIFW opens on September 5 in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. As many as 71 established and new fashion designers would be participating in the spring-summer edition of the fashion week.
