Bollywood babes become fashion conscious

To begin with, when were the Bollywood actresses not fashion conscious? But now they are going a step further.

It is one thing to expresses one’s fashion tastes in personal life. But it is quite another to bring one’s personal judgments and pet fashion designers for films one works in. That is what some Bollywood babes have begun doing.

Kangana Ranaut has roped in her favourite designer Rick Roy to design her costumes in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Fashion despite the fact that the movie has a reputed designer, Narendra Kumar, who is doing the overall styling of the actors in the film – from their clothes to hair, accessories, make-up and look.

The folks at UTV, the film’s production house, were initially taken aback by Kangana’s demand to have her own designer, but they let the actress have her way.

Kangana says she has worked with Rick for many years and he knows well her needs and fashion tastes. That is why, she says, she recommended Rick’s name for ‘Fashion’.

On another front, actress Isha Koppikar has done the same and penciled in her favourite designer Rezza to do her costumes in Hello Darling .

It is learnt that the film’s director originally wanted designer Shefali Gupta to do costumes for the entire cast ( Celina Jaitley , Isha, Gul Panag ) but Isha insisted that she was comfortable working only with Rezza. The film’s director eventually agreed to Isha’s demand.

While such demands by actresses almost tantamount to meddling in the making of the film, the ladies insist it is all for the betterment of the movie.
