HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | FASHION Motley mix of designers at India Fashion Week09th Oct 2008 11.20 IST By Agencies Unstinted opulence and glitz will be on display when five-day Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week gets underway at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on October 15. An eclectic mix of 80 designers, including New York-based Vivienne Tam, will be showcasing their creations and 53 models setting the runway ablaze during 36 shows. 
“It will be a gala event with unprecedented splendour. Fashion Design Council of India, which organises the event, is jubilant that the participation of designers and sponsors is growing each year and we feel encouraged that we are getting such a good response. Designers form the epicentre of the fashion industry and we are extremely happy to announce the list of participating designers of the forthcoming event,” FDCI president Sunil Sethi told a media conference in Delhi. He said the designers would be showcasing their collections under three new categories introduced in the last edition – Contemporary, Synthesis/Heritage, and Creator. Ten commercial partners who will be sponsoring the event include Wills Lifestyle, Fiama Di Wills, Chivas, NDTV Good Times, Hewlett Packard and Big FM. Queried about the number of buyers the fashion fiesta was expecting to draw, Mr Sethi said, “Right now I will not be able to tell you the exact number of buyers because some have not given confirmation as yet. But I assure you that the number would certainly exceed the number of buyers we had in the last edition of the event.” To a question about several fashion events being held simultaneously, he said, “It is unfortunate as well as inconvenient.
