How Kolkata could miss local girl Bipasha Basu when the city was hosting its first fashion week? On Saturday, Bollywood's sexiest female walked the ramp at Kolkata Fashion Week. The diva was the showstopper at designer duo Mona-Pali's (Mona Lamba and Pali Sachdev) show. Like a true Bengali, she was traditionally dressed up in white and red Bengali sari and a big red bindi on her forehead. What came as a surprise was that Bipasha walked for Mona-Pali, instead of her favourite designer-duo Gauri-Nainika. Nevertheless, the lady looked both sensual and traditional. "What I love about this particular outfit tonight is it has the essence of our culture, at the same time it is very modern," Bipasha is quoted as saying. 
Yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman was an image of grace and dignity as she took the ramp for 'The Story of Weaves' section at KFW. Kolkata didn't lack the required glitz from Bollywood as celebrities like Dino Morea , Sonal Chauhan , Minissha Lamba , Chak De India girl Sagarika Ghatge Dev. D sensation Mahi Gill , and ex Miss India, Neha Dhupia sashayed down the ramp. Designers like Rohit Bal , Bibi Russell, Wendell Rodricks, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Gauri Nainika, Shane-Falguni, Mona Pali, Abhishek Dutta, Marg, Sharbari Dutta, Anjana Bhargav, Dev & Nil, Manoviraj Khosla and Narendra Kumar presented their designs. The just-concluded Kolkata Fashion Week was a four-day extravaganza in collaboration with Nation's Food and Agricultural Organisation. The theme of the KFW was 'Return to Roots' and focus was more on textiles, natural fibres and hand-woven fabric. |
