Shekhar Kapoor is gearing up to direct the sequel to his Oscar nominated film ‘Elizabeth’.
Although Kapoor had expressed his desire to make a sequel to ‘Elizabeth’ a long time back, a formal announcement of the film was made recently. As learnt, the sequel will be titled ‘Golden Age’ and will star Cate Blanchett.
Cate’s career is looking up after she won the Oscar statuette this year for her commendable portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Aviator’.
Reports suggest that ‘Golden Age’ will be a historical set against the schism between Protestants and Catholics in England. The movie will be about religious tolerance.
The script for the movie will most likely be written by Michael Hirst, who worked with Kapoor in ‘Elizabeth’.
‘Golden Age’ will be made at a budget of around $60 million. Shooting for the film is likely to begin this year.
