Cate Blanchett will reprise her role of the Virgin Queen Elizabeth in the sequel to Shekhar Kapoor’s 1998 film ‘Elizabeth’.
The sequel, titled ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’, deals with the Tudor monarch's tempestuous relationship with Sir Walter Raleigh. The story will also carry suggestions that Elizabeth was infatuated with the adventurer.
The sequel, too, will be directed by Shekhar Kapoor . The movie will have a budget approximating $47 million, according to the London Telegraph.
Reports say that actor Clive Owen has been signed to play Sir Raleigh, an English explorer who organized several voyages of explorations and colonization to the Americas in the late sixteenth century.
‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ will expectedly be completed and released by 2006.
