Elizabeth Hurley kicks off wedding celebrations with Bollywood movie

British model Elizabeth Hurley and her beau Arun Nayar kicked off their marriage celebrations at a 15th Century castle by showing their celebrity guests a "Bollywood" movie starring the couple.

Instead of formal toasts and speeches, the newlyweds treated their 247 guests at Sudeley Castle to a specially made film featuring Bollywood-style singing and dancing.

Saturday's celebrations came a day after the couple entered into wedlock in a secret civil ceremony accompanied by only a handful of their closest friends and relatives.

A member of the wedding party said Hurley and Nayar had thought of their own Bollywood movie as a joke but then decided it would be a memorable alternative to toasts and speeches.

"They made the film on their latest trip to India while they were finalising wedding plans," a source told The Mail.

"Liz and Arun sing and dance to traditional Indian songs, with the stunning backdrop of Mumbai in the distance."

Nayar wore traditional Indian clothing, including a turban, and even grew a beard for the part. Hurley looked stunning in a number of eye-catching saris, the source said.

"Elizabeth gets to act out her dream role, as it's a beautiful love story based on their own history.

"She wanted to create the ultimate Bollywood love story - and who better to base the film on than the love story of herself and Arun."

The film, which took about a month to shoot, had a cast and production team of about 100 people.

Saturday, the couple's celebrity friends arrived at the castle near the Cotswolds town in Sudeley for the festivities, which began just before noon.

The castle, St Mary's church in the grounds and the marquee where the reception was held were connected by canvas corridors, meaning all the guests were hidden from outside view.

The reception was organised by Peregrine Armstrong-Jones, who is rumoured to have been paid 250,000 pounds.

Later in the evening, a medieval style banquet included smoked venison, guinea fowl with sage and poached pears - the same menu served to Henry VIII's sixth wife, Catherine Parr, when she lived at Sudeley.

Nayar's younger brother Nikhil was best man the blessing service and four-year-old Damian was the ring-bearer. One guest said: "I was touched to see how fond Damian was of Arun. They really seem a happy family."

At the reception, the bride and groom sat at the head of a grand table draped in white roses with white silk and muslin settings. Hurley wore a 'simple but stunning' off-white chiffon dress by Donatella Versace.

The cake was a four-tier traditional white cake and guests were served by liveried footmen in green velvet suits.

Hurley's good friend, singer Sir Elton John, in dark blue tracksuit with white stripes, flew in by helicopter with his partner David Furnish 45 minutes before the ceremony began.

Other guests included fashion guru Donatella Versace, Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson, Patsy Kensit, Trinny Woodall, Tamara Mellon and the castle's owner Henry Dent-Brocklehurst and his wife Lili Maltese. Hurley's ex-lover Hugh Grant was also on the guest list - but did not attend.

The couple intend to do it all over again starting on Wednesday in Jodhpur in Rajasthan where the dress code for ladies is "hot pink saris" and the venue is the sandstone Umaid Bhawan palace.

There will be a moonlit dinner before the Indian ceremony on Friday when the wedding parade will feature elephants and white horses, while Hurley will wear a 4,000 pounds sari designed by Tarun Tahiliani.
