Vidhu Vinod Chopra to direct Mickey Rourke?

Chopra, who is in awe of Rourke, revealed that he saw a special screening of Rourke�fs �eThe Wrestler�f much before the awards. �gI was bowled over by his performance�h, says the critically acclaimed director. For Chopra, Rourke was his first choice and was finalized even before he won the Golden Globe.

Rourke did an award winning performance as a professional wrestler Randy �gThe Ram�h Robinson in the movie �eThe Wrestler�f.


The maverick director is on top of the world, getting Rourke to play one of the pivotal roles in the �eBroken Horses�f. Chopra is quoted as saying: �gMickey deserves all the acclaim he is getting and I hope he wins the Oscar as well."

Director of movies like �eParinda�f, �e1942 A Love Story�f and �eEklavya�f, Vidhu had been in talks with Dustin Hoffman a few years back for a project. But the project could not materialize.

Its been reported that the movie�fs screenplay is penned by Chopra himself. Abhijat Joshi of Lage Raho Munnabhai and Eklavya fame along with script consultant Jason Richman who has worked on movies like �eBangkok Dangerous�f and �eSwing Vote�f are likely to work on script.

Mark Johnson, who was associated with films like �eChronicles of Narnia�f, �eThe Notebook�f and �eRain Man�f, will be the executive producer of the film, and Chris Buchinsky, linked with �fHancock�f and �eSpiderman 2�Œ, is the story-board artist. New Mexico, New York and Albuquerque are the locales finalized for the shoot.

The movie is going to be a gangster film. Let�fs see when �eBroken Horses�f start to run.
