According to Sunny Deol , only a good film succeeds in the long run and no big banner or actor can ensure a hit.

"The film should essentially be well made to go down well with the audience. Any other parameter is only secondary," Sunny said in Lucknow on Thursday during the promotion of his latest film Jo Bole So Nihaal shot mainly in New York.

Trying to shed the mantle of the action star, he said he had attempted all kinds of genres and it was simply a matter of fact that his action-based films have been more successful.

"It is a false assumption that I am doing the same type of role all over again. My effort is only to be part of a product which entertains the masses," he said.

It was wrong to classify films as based on action, comedy or romance as they were simply elements of the storyline and script, Sunny said.

Video piracy was eating a major chunk of the film industry's revenue and stern government action besides public support was required to deal with it, he said.

The actor, best known for his portrayals in Damini and Gadar , said his next film would be a home production called ‘Deodhar Gandhi’ while two films with father Dharmendra and brother Bobby Deol were also in pipeline.

Sunny essays the role of an honest, amiable police constable from Punjab in Jo Bole So Nihaal directed by his long-time associate Rahul Rawail , who has previously directed him in Arjun and Arjun Pandit amongst others.
