Bachchan pays homage to Sunil Dutt

The late Sunil Dutt holds a special place in the heart of mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan .

Duttsaab not only gave Bachchan a break in his film Reshma Aur Shera in 1971, but according to Bachchan himself Duttsaab was the epitome of generosity and kindness.

Recalling his days when he was a newcomer in the industry, Bachchan says that Dutt’s qualities of generosity and kindness go a long way in instilling self-confidence in him.

Says Bachchan, “When Duttsaab cast me in Reshma Aur Shera, Raakhee and I were both newcomers. I can’t forget that we were given absolutely equal treatment on sets. I guess somewhere those values have remained with me.”

Bachchan went on to work with Dutt again in the 1980 multi-starrer Shaan and later when he agreed to do Kaante - the production venture of Sanjay Dutt , he said he was repaying the debt of Duttsaab, for giving him that break in 1971.

Sanjay Dutt himself regards Bachchan as his God and recently went to the premiere of Black even though his own film Shabd was released on the same day. When asked why he did so, he said that Bachchan himself had asked him to come over and he couldn’t refuse his God anything.

Bachchan of course reciprocates these feelings of the junior Dutt, when remembering Duttsaab he said, “Today, Sanju and his sisters have a father and brother in me and Abhishek. That’s a bond we share unconditionally.”
