The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has said Ashutosh Gowarikar , the director of her latest release Jodhaa Akbar , is responsible for the historical facts in the film.

"If the director wants, I will certainly do some research for the character. But here everything was done by Ashutosh and he is responsible for all the historical facts," Ash told BCC radio in an interview.

Ash said Gowarikar had done a thorough research on the topic of the film.

"Ashutosh himself said that it was only after four years of research that he began to get together a team. This made it easy for us. It is important to know that when one is working in a film as a team, we are not making our film but it's the director who is making it".

The film was released on Friday amidst controversy, with Rajput groups opposing it, alleging distortion of historical facts in it.

Ash, however, said the film was not an attempt to re-narrate the history.

"We are not trying to re-narrate history through this film. Ashutosh is using this film to tell us about the untold love story of Jodha and Akbar which is not mentioned in the books," Ash said.

Talking about her sword-fighting scenes in the movie, Ash said her background in dance helped her in performing these scenes, as she had not enough time for proper training.

"The director wanted me to get me trained for this. But we don't have enough time. Finally, I went for training of sword fighting for two to three days and since I had a background in dance, I could master it easily," the former Miss World said.

Meanwhile, the producers of 'Jodhaa Akbar' have rubbished its criticism, asserting there were no distortions and "tremendous research" has gone into its making.

"We have taken every precaution. A tremendous amount of research has gone into the movie," Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Executive Vice President (Marketing and Distribution) of UTV Motion Pictures, said.

He said "certain elements" were trying to create problems to force filmmakers to stay away from certain topics. Judgment is being made on the basis of media reports. People should first see the film and then comment," Kapoor said.

'Jodhaa Akbar' stars Hrithik Roshan as Emperor Akbar and Ash as Rajput princess Jodha Bai.

In India, the film has been released in around 1,300 theatres barring cinema halls in Rajasthan where several Rajput groups have protested against "distortion of historical facts" in the movie.

However, Kapoor said his company has made unprecedented arrangements to make `Jodhaa Akbar' the first Indian film to get such a huge release.

"We have made an unprecedented distribution strategy to ensure that the film can be viewed by the maximum possible audience in the very week of its release," he added.
