But the gorgeous lady says she never thought she would act in films someday. "I never thought I would be an actress. As my confidence grew, I realised that taking up acting is the gradual growth process for a model," Deepika said while speaking to reporters in Mumbai during the weekend. 
Not only has Deepika graduated from modeling to films, she has also faced the daunting task of doing double roles in two films at the very start of her career. "In Chandni Chowk To China I have a double role. In Om Shanti Om , I played a double role. I feel privileged to essay double roles so early in my career," said Deepika, who was awarded as the most promising newcomer of 2007 at award functions earlier this year. As of now, Deepika is eagerly awaiting the release of her film Bachna Ae Haseeno that has her pairing with her real-life beau Ranbir Kapoor . Speaking about her character Gayatri in the film, Deepika said: "Like me, she is independent and traditional. She studies in Sydney and works to fund her education. I also started working at the age of 18 which made me more responsible." 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' tells the story of a dandy dude's romantic adventures through three different relationships. Besides Deepika, the film also stars Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba . When asked if she fears being overshadowed by her co-stars, Deepika said: "I trust the director completely as I know he will give me my due." A Yashraj Films production, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is directed by Siddharth Anand . The film is slated to hit the theatres on August 15.
