Shweta Kumar not scared of comparisons

In her very first movie Shweta Kumar plays a role immortalized by the very beautiful Tina Munim years ago.

Shweta, the daughter of filmmaker Indra Kumar , will make her Bollywood debut with director Satish Kaushik’s upcoming film Karzzzz , which is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s hit musical ‘Karz’.

So comparisons with the old movie and the actors in it are inevitable, and Shweta seems prepared for it.

"Comparisons are inevitable in anything you do and not only if you are working on a remake of a highly popular film of the 1980s…If I get scared of comparisons and become apprehensive, I should not be in the industry," Shweta is quoted by a news agency.

Shweta said she always wanted to be an actress and prepared herself by taking up a crash course in acting and dance. She also agreed that family background helps to gain foothold in the film industry.

"It is much easier for those who have relatives in the industry to get good banners and roles in their initial films. But, they can't make a mark for themselves. It is the performances which will speak and outside producers will cast you on the basis of your work and not relationships," Shweta said.

Speaking about how she bagged ‘Karzzzz’ opposite Himesh Reshammiya , Shweta said: "Satishji, who is a friend of my father, knew that he was planning to launch me in movies. He approached my dad with this offer. We decided to go ahead because the movie was good with a strong script, good banner and a director whom my father trusted," she said.

Shweta said she believed in doing hard work and giving her hundred per cent. "Rest is destiny," she said.

Shweta said her second film will be directed and produced by her father which will go on floors soon.

"He was going to launch me with this film, but now it will be my second. It's too early to discuss it," she added.
