Awards give me a sense of achievement: Priyanka Chopra

Last year, Priyanka’s career was on a downslide after her four films – Love Story 2050 , Drona , Chamku and God Tussi Great Ho – bombed one after the other at the box office. But the tide turned with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion which wasn’t just a box-office success, but has also fetched Priyanka awards galore for her performance.

She has so far bagged best actress awards at Filmfare Awards, Star Screen Awards, Stardust Awards and Lions Club Awards, among others, for her acting in the film.


“It's been a fantastic start to 2009. Awards mean a lot to me. After you work so hard, the award validates your work. So every award has a very special place in my heart and gives me a huge sense of achievement and encouragement,” Priyanka is quoted by IANS as saying.

Speaking about her role in ‘Fashion’, Priyanka says she feels privileged to have played such a complex character.

“I feel privileged to have been given the chance to essay a complex character like Meghna Mathur in 'Fashion' and I'm truly overwhelmed by the appreciation I have received,” she said.

Not just at home, Priyanka is also winning abroad. Last month, she was conferred the Nielsen Box Office Award for outstanding contribution to Asian cinema at the Third Annual Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong.

“This is my first international award and is definitely an encouragement for me as an actor to perform better,” Priyanka is quoted as saying.

Priyanka is presently looking forward to the release of director Vishal Bharadwaj’s film Kaminay in which she pairs with Shahid Kapur .
