I did the Mujra song in pain: Mahi Gill

The song titled ‘Ranaji’ is presently being aired and is quite funny with its wacky lyrics. It’s also quite eye-appealing due to Mahi’s sensuous gyrations. But the actress was in terrible pain while shooting it. And there was no respite because the song had to be shot in eight hours straight.

“I had hurt my back, but by that time the sets were in place, all my co-stars ready and a director who was just so enthusiastic about calling 'action'. I couldn't have backed out at the last minute...I was literally crying after every shot,” Mahi is quoted by IANS.


Even though there was a doctor on the sets, Mahi did not feel any relief in pain and had to bite the bullet for what she calls “one of my most painful shoots.”

Mahi says she went through pain only because she can’t say no to director Anurag Kashyap for whom she has immense respect.

"Anything for him…Even though 'Gulaal' sees me in a small part, I didn't think twice about doing it. I respect Anurag for the kind of filmmaker that he is, especially after working with him in Dev. D and whenever he calls me, I will work with him again,” Mahi is quoted as saying.

Apart from the ‘Ranaji’ track, Mahi has another song called ‘Chakmak’ in ‘Gulaal’. While the former song was shot in eight hours, the latter was filmed in just three and a half hours flat.
